From the Principal
St Francis Xavier’s (SFX)
is a Catholic Parish Primary School in the eastern suburbs of
Melbourne. It is situated within the municipality of the City
of Whitehorse (www.whitehorse.vic.gov.au), which is known for
its tree-lined streets and abundance of bushland reserves. The
municipality is located just 15 kilometres from the centre of
Melbourne, or 20 minutes along the Eastern Freeway.
St Francis Xavier’s enrols
catholic students from Prep to Grade Six who are residents of
the parishes of St Clare’s North Box Hill or St Francis
Xavier’s Box Hill.
The school is run by the St Francis Xavier’s Parish, Box
Hill which is in the care of the Franciscan Friars. Schools in
the Archdiocese of Melbourne are supported by the Catholic Education
Office Melbourne (www.ceo.melb.catholic.edu.au)
The school offers a comprehensive range of academic programs and
extra curricular activities, as well as an Arts Program and a
Physical Education Program. The outstanding aspect of the school
is its community spirit - there is a culture of care for each
other in the community. Parents are involved in the school by
way of the School Education Board, the Classroom Helpers Program
and the Parents and Friends Association. Each child is valued
and cared for by a dedicated staff and by all members of the community.
St Francis Xavier’s is a Catholic School characterised by
strong teaching and learning that is underpinned by the Gospel
values of truth, love, justice, peace and care for the environment.
Through all policies, procedures and programs the staff work relentlessly
towards improved learning outcomes for all students, with particular
emphasis on Literacy and Numeracy.
Regular school tours are conducted in which parents are introduced
to the unique school culture and are able to observe the school
and its environs during operation.
I welcome you to the school website and I invite your comments
or enquiries.
